BO kata (staff of 1.80 m) : as effective as esthetical
Beyond the karate lessons, sensei HAYNES gives courses of traditional kobudo. Kobudo is all the techniques initially developped by Okinawaian peasants, who were forbidden to carry any weapon by the Japanese invader, to use their common tools like weapons. It all boiled down to a very effective technique, with a great choreographic beauty that increases one's skill very appropriately.
Very few clubs in Belgium have the knowledge to give such courses. We learn how to manipulate the well known nunchaku (small flail), the bo (staff), the sai (little forks or tridents) and the tonfa (short staffs with perpendicular handles) like the ones used by certain police forces, especially in the U.S.A.
